Former governor of Oyo State and the Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Rashidi Ladoja on Monday asked the 21 Ibadan new Obas recently sacked from office by an Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan to stop wearing beaded crown or be ready to face contempt of court charges.

High Chief Ladoja who handed down the warning in Ibadan while featuring on a Splash  FM interview programme monitored by the New Nigerian also disclosed that he is no longer interested in contesting for the seat of Oyo State Governor come 2019.

The Osi Olubadan stressed that  the judgment nullifying the coronation of the 21 new obas by Governor Abiola Ajimobi last year was a declarative judgment which must be complied with, irrespective of the appeal filled by the defendants and that as such it will be wrong and illegal for any of the sacked Ibadan new Obas to still be going around with the beaded crown giving them late last year by Governor Abiola Ajimobi, saying doing so will be against the court judgment.

“By the judgment, these people should cease to call themselves oba and should not be wearing their so-called crown or coronet. There was a picture of one of them sent to me from Kano State that he wore the coronets. I will ask my lawyer to call the attention of the court to the flouting of its judgment.” he said.

High Chief Ladoja added “they are acting in contempt of court. The governor, my aburo should have called them to order and ask them to desist from illegality. They can wear the coronet in their houses, after all they can be kings of their houses, but outside their homes.

Speaking on politics, High Chief Ladoja insisted that he is not interested in  contest governorship election again in Oyo and that his preoccupation will be how to install a people’s government in the state in 2019.

High Chief Ladoja also disclosed  that he had no axe to grind with a governorship hopeful in the PDP,Engineer  Seyi Makinde, saying  “a father-son relationship still subsists between them as well as other guber aspirants in the party.”
