Stop the attack on the judiciary—Legal practitioner warns Mimiko

By; ODEYEMI SAMUEL, Akure.
An Akure based Legal Practitioner, Charles Titiloye has cautioned the Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko on his incessant attack of the Judiciary over the judgment of Rivers State governorship election judgement.
It will be recalled that the tribunal nullified the election of Governor Nyesom Wike few weeks ago. But Mr. Titiloye who is also a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a press statement in Akure said the last of the series of public condemnation of the Judiciary by Mimiko over the judgment of the Tribunal was during the 2015 Legal year.
The Ceremony was boycotted by lawyers and members of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) in the state.
The former Secretary of the NBA Akure branch said the development was an act of blackmail aimed at arm-twisting the Judiciary to un- meritoriously reverses the said judgment in the election petition on appeal.
He expressed surprise that governor Mimiko who is a major beneficiary of favourable governorship election tribunal judgment which removed his predecessor Dr Olusegun Agagu from office and made him governor, can now embark on daily politically motivated slanderous attack on the Courts, for ordering a rerun in the controversial, rigged and highly manipulated Rivers State governorship election.
The activist said while the Ondo State House of Assembly Election Tribunal in Ondo State, despite avalanche of evidence brought before it by the electoral body itself that April election in the state was marred with corrupt practices and non compliance with Electoral Act, it still dismissed all the 12 Petitions of APC.
He advised Mimiko to borrow a leave from APC as a party which decided to appeal the Judgment and not expose the Judiciary to public ridicule created by “a governor too desperate to maintain PDP majority in the State House of Assembly”.
