Stimulate Economy By Passing 2018 Budget, Group Tasks NASS

Companions of Buhari Initiative (COBI),  a support group for President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election,  has condemned the undue delay by the National Assembly in passing the 2018 budget.

In a resolution issued and signed by the general coordinator,  Chief Utum Eteng and Secretary general,  Dr. Adalikwu Stephen Adie,  “sees the delay as a ploy to inflict hardship on the people in view or the fact that some government policies cannot be implemented without a budget”.

It also condemned the recent tactics by the leadership of the National Assembly in banning the Parlimantary support group (PSG) and suspending members of the Red Chambers perceived to be loyal to Mr President, describing it as a ploy to intimidate other members of the Senate who support the non veto of the Electoral Act (Amendment), seeking to re-order the sequence of elections in the country.

The group noted with appreciation the numerous appointments given to the indigenes of Cross River state, during the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari as the state had benefitted in all another programmes such as the school feeding,  N-power and other social investment programmes.

It commended President Buhari for the achievements that his administration is recording,  particularly in steadying the ship of the nation’s economic growth and also tackling the security challenges across the country.

It frowned and condemned the blackmail/gangup in some quarters against the President and urged Nigerians to support the President whose integrity had remained indebted.

The group also celebrated the recent appointment of Mr.  Festus Key Amo (SAN)  as the spokeam/director of strategic communications for the Buhari’s campaign organisation(PMBCO), describing it as a well deserved one.

It passed an absolute vote of confidence chairman of the EFCC,  Ibrahim Magu,  the chairman of the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the recovery of public property, (SPIF),  Chief Okoi Obla and urged the Senate to confirm Magu as chairman having acquainted himself so creditably well in his acting capacity.

In a related development,  the group led by its general coordinator, Chief Utum Eteng paid a courtesy visit to hausa community living in Nassarsawa village to intimate them of the existence of the group.

He called on them to support the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari for the second term as he has performed creditably within the period under review.

He recalled a number of achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration and said he will do more if voted in for the second term in office.

Earlier,  the head of the Nassarswa hausa community,  Alhaji Sanni Gombe who was represented by Alhaji Saidu Jadawa,  commended the initiative of those behind the formation of the group.

He assured that as far as the hausa community in Nassarswa is concerned,  Buhari will be reelected come 2018 general elections.

He described this administration as a saving grace for all Nigerians including those yet unborn.
