Kaduna State Police Command on Friday denied deserting communities in Southern Kaduna where suspected herdsmen have continued to attack the locals.
Two persons in Gogolfa village, Godogodo Chiefdom, in Jema’a Local Government Area of of state were on Thursday shot to death by alleged herdsmen, and a child of six died of related gunshot wounds in a previous attack, community leaders told newsmen.
The Community leaders also alleged that their communities have been deserted by Police, who only patrol the highways with wailing sirens, not their vulnerable villages off the express ways
Kaduna State Police Command Spokesman, ASP Aliyu Usman confirmed the killings of the two men, but denied that Police had deserted the affected communities.
A community leader from Gogolfa ‎who don’t want his name mentioned spoke with journalists and said, “On a Thursday afternoon, we heard gunshots from the fringes of the village. When we rushed there we discovered that two of our people have been shot to death. They are: Taru Mamman, 60, father of 5 and grandfather and Batet Jonathan, 35, married with three children. Those who saw them escaping said they were Fulani,”  he said.
Meanwhile, Ruth Daniel, 6, a primary one pupil, from Ningon Gari in Gwantu Village, succumbed to her injuries after alleged armed herdsmen invaded the village and killed two on 21st August, 2016.
A local leader told our reporter on phone, but asked that his name not be included.
He said: “The night they came, they shot at everywhere and they got her in her belly. It affected her intestine and she was rushed to Kafanchan General Hospitals. The Local Government Chairman said he would help, but no assistance came. Her parent sold off all her crops and everything the poor farmers could raise, but they could not raise enough for her treatment. So she died yesterday at the general hospital.”
Reacting to the incident, Kaduna Police Spokesman, ASP Aliyu Usman said: “It is true and I can confirm that two people were killed in Golgofa. But it is not true that there are no police presence there. I have been  in touch with Kafanchan Area Commander, and he has assured me that there are police vehicles in these villages. But we cannot be on every man’s farm, If you doubt me, go to the villages and find out by yourself,” he said.
