Chairman, Senate Committee on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Cybercrime, Dr. Abdulfatai Buhari has disclosed that all the 18 serving Senators from the South West states are opposed to the proposed plans by the Federal government to crate cattle colonies across Nigeria ..
Speaking with newsmen the NYSC Orientation camp in Iseyin venue of his town hall meeting and empowerment programme, Senator Buhari declared that all the Senators from the South West geopolitical zone are determined to abide and align with the decision of the leaders of the zone in rejecting the proposed cattle colony by the Federal Government.
According to Senator Buhari, all the Senators from the zone would continue to support the decision of leaders of various groups in the zone particularly the Afenifere in rejecting the proposed cattle colony.
“It is not my own views I don’t have any view, I queued in to what our leaders say and the view of our leaders in the South West, and everybody knows what we want in South West. We senator from the zone.” he said.
The Chairman Senate committee on ICT and Cybercrime emphasized that it would amount to injustice if he and other Senators from the SW zone who were representatives of the people were in support of a policy which will place one business above the others.
“At least they send you, they send you to represent them not your personal opinion, what my people want is that they said look, a base for people who have job, your own job must not disturb others. “
He added “look at the potentials we have in Oke-Ogun, Oke-Ogun is an agrarian area, so for you now to bring people to come and destroy their crops and farms, nobody will take that, nobody will support that. Oke-Ogun will be the most affected area for such policy because it is an agrarian area. It is an agrarian area, you don’t bring people who will destroy people’s farms.”
” So I will key in to the place of our leaders and position of our leaders and the idea is that look, your own job should not disturb others neither mine should disturb you. So we are supporting the position of Afenifere, I am queued in to what our leaders in the zone are saying”.
Senator Buhari maintained ” You can term it anything, I called it dividend of democracy, you give it to people, the only way they can be happy with you is where you are able to defend them and represent them well. The era has come where Nigerians should be looking out for competence and not where you come from. The man that can do the job, the person that can fix it, the man that knows how we can move this county forward, his can you move this state forward. How can you participate”.
