The Southwest Zonal Director of the Buhari/Osinbajo Presidential Campaign Council, Chief Oluwole Oke (SAN) on Monday asked the South West people to give President Muhammadu Buhari a resounding victory in the Saturday Presidential election.
Chief Oke made the call while speaking at a delegate conference organised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2019 Southwest Zonal Presidential Campaign Council for 54 Buhari/Osinbajo support groups in the region held at Mapo hall, Ibadan..
According to the Southwest Zonal Director of the APC 2019 Presidential Campaign Council, the reelection of President Buhari for another four years term will be a total blessing for the Yoruba race and the entire South West region.
Chief Oke pointed out that the President Buhari led administration is already laying down good foundation for a better Nigeria and it is only by reelecting him for another four years that will enable him to consolidate and build a stronger Nigeria on the already laid foundation.
“Fortunately for us, we have about 16 million votes here in the Southwest, the Southeast in which PDP has zoned the Vice president slot to has only 9 million votes. Is it possible for the zone with 9 million votes to take away what belongs to a zone with 16 million votes? We should retain the front seat we currently occupy in the national government. PDP wants to take away the Vice president slot from us and give it to the Southeast. We should not allow this to happen, and the only way we can ensure this is to vote massively for Buhari and Osinbajo”, he said.
Chief Oke stressed that there are four major reasons for the Yoruba to fully support the reelection of President Buhari considering the fact that the Yoruba are taking the front seat in his administration with the appointment of Yoruba persons as Ministers into key Ministries in his cabinet, particularly the Works ,Housing and Power.”
He then urged leaders and members of the 54 support groups to go and mobilize Southwest voters for the re – election of President Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, saying, the conspiracy to take away the Vice President slot away from the Southwest and give it to the Southeast should not be allowed to work out, appealed to the people of the region to vote massively for Buhari.
“Go to your various units and ensure that maximum votes are returned to the President. We in the Southwest have every reason to return PMB. The government has treated us well. The government has given the zone prime and juicy appointments “.
In his goodwill message, at the conference, the Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole charged members of the 54 Buhari/Osinbajo support groups to go from unit to unit and educate the electorate on how to vote correctly, to avoid what happened during the last year’s governorship election in Osun state in which about 47,000 votes were voided.
“Don’t repeat what happened in Osun state last year. You will recall that 47, 000 votes were cancelled during the last election in Osun state. When you vote, wait for some minutes, let the ink dry before you fold it if you must fold it. Itis worrisome that 47,000 votes were cancelled in Osun state last year. You can see the margin. It is too much. On Saturday, use your index finger, this finger, it is called Ika Ilabe. It is used to draw soup while you are eating. We will use it to draw soup. Use your index finger to cast your votes.” he said.
Speaking further, the Minister urged the South West people not to waste Buhari’s votes by not voting correctly, saying, “the index finger should be used to thumbprint and wait for about one to two minutes for the ink to dry before you fold the ballot paper and put it inside ballot box”.
‘I congratulate all of you here. All of us will enjoy oo. I want to thank the organisers for organising this event.
We have benefited enough from this government. South West has benefited from Buhari government. Apart from the fact that we have the Vice President, we must not allow any other zones to take it away from us. We have some ministers that have not been given to the South West since independence”
In his remarks, Chairman Board of Trustees (BoT) of Joint Association of People With Disability, Prince Paul Adelabu promised that about 10 million people with disabilities across Nigeria will cast their votes for President Muhammad Buhari during the Saturday’s presidential election.
Prince Adelabu stressed that people with disabilities will forever be grateful to President Buhari, because successive administrations before him, including former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Late Umoru Musa Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan, refused to signed the Bill.
“Even people with disabilities who don’t have thumps have decided to use their toes to cast their votes for President Buhari, because the Disability Bill. We have about ten million of us who have their PVCs intact. Go and check INEC’s list. The Bill is our life, we will vote massive for the President for signing the Bill”.
The summit was attended by the APC South West Secretary, Chief Ayo Afolabi and other SW APC leaders as well as leaders and members of the 54 Buhari/Osinbajo support groups from across the Southwest states
