A legal luminary in Ondo State, Barr. Morakinyo Ogele Monday condemned the Secretary to the State government, Hon. Abegunde Abena for slapping a Police Officer attached to him.
According to Ogele, “The conduct of SSG, slapping a police officer is very barbaric and crude adding that he man is not fit and proper to be the secretary to the state government”
He noted that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu is not such a man that could tolerate such barbaric act in his Cabinet going by his humane character which he is noted for.
He recalled how at a time, Akeredolu appealed to him personally when one Olalekan Odere briefed me to sue him (ABENA) on a case similar to this. Akeredolu appealed to him to drop the case.
Anyone with such temperament, he said, Abegunde is not fit as a person to occupy the office of SSG in this century he therefore appeal to Akeredolu to drop him from his cabinet within seven days.
“I fear that this slapping habit may soon cause Ondo state and South West a global embarrassment. If the government is retaining him, he has to been sent to a Rehabilitation home, so he can learn how to conduct himself in such elevated position”, Ogele assured.
If a police officer could be slapped by the SSG, the Legal practitioner noted that such action connotes that he has slapped the Inspector General of Police and the entire police force.
“The Commissioner of Police in Ondo state is hereby given seven days to arrest and charge the SSG to court for criminal assault. This will restrain him from furthering his slapping habit”. He said.
It would be recalled that the slapping incident occurred at a marriage ceremony of the son of the Governor in Lagos at the weekend
Meanwhile, the Police image maker, Mr. Femi Joseph said he is not aware if such action ever take place since no Officer attached to the SSG ever lodged complaint of any one giving him a slap.
