Six In Police Net Over Car Theft

The Police in Lagos have arrested six  suspects over alleged armed robbery and car theft .
Five out of the suspects were said to be interstate bandits that specialise in snatching of exotic cars at gun point and receivers of stolen vehicles, while the sixth person was identified as a mechanic.
 The Commissioner of Police Lagos Command Edgal Imohimi, who made the disclosure Monday while parading the suspects  identified them as Qudus Abdulkareem, Abdulwaheed Abdulkareem, Nurudeen Abdulrahman, Musiliu Abdulwahab and Opeyemi Ogundokun.
Edgal,  described the duo of Qudus Abdulkareem and Abdulwaheed Abdulkareem as the hatchet men of the syndicate whose duty was to either steal a car from where it was parked or snatched at gun point.
He said the suspects had stolen aToyota Camry Salon car, green in colour, marked ER468KRD,  property of one Saheed Aminu, on 19th November 2017 at 45 Awolowo Road, Ikorodu.
Adding that the car was later found at the workshop of Opeyemi Ogundokun in Ikorodu by operatives of the Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad, Ipakodo, the police boss informed that the confessional statement of Ogundokun led to arrest of the Abdulkareems in Rigassa area of Kaduna state.
The police commissioner added that the duo later identified the trio of Shittu, Abdulrahman and Abdulwahab as the receivers of all the cars stolen by them and were consequently arrested.
Following a signed search warrant executed at the Rigassa base of the stolen car receivers, Edgal said different exotic cars and other items were recovered from them.
According to him, the cars  include one Nissan Versa with registration number KRD 538 AZ, one Rav 4 SUV marked EKY 720 BS, a Toyota Camry with registration number EC 192 KRD and Honda CRV SUV marked EKY 17 AR.
The items, he said include one English pistol, one hand granade, 118 rounds of AK ammunition, military camouflage and various plate numbers.
Edgal added that the suspects had confessed that they are based in Kaduna but only come to Lagos when they want to steal or snatch vehicle at gun point.
