Six Arraign, Remanded in Prison over killing of Army Commander

The six suspects arrested in connection with the killing of the
Commandant of the Army Command Secondary School in Apata, Ibadan, Colonel ‎Ekok Anthony Okey were on Wednesday arraigned before an Oyo State Chief Magistrate court sitting in Ibadan.
Subsequently, the suspects who were arraigned on three counts charge of conspiracy, robbery and murder were ordered to be remanded at Agodi prison custody tll March 28 this year.
Arraigning the suspects namely Solomon Agada Emmanuel (20), Taiwo Adeniyi (33), Bibisoye Kehinde a.k.a. Efrebor (26), Ewere Andrew (25), Udobata Orusa-Uzi, a.k.a. Kaka (28), and Ephraim Obi (38),Police Prosecutor, Inspector Fashola Musliu  told the court that the suspects “on December 11, 2016 at about 10.00 p.m at the Command Day Secondary School, Owode, Apata in the Magisterial District did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit: robbery and murder, an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 324 of the Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000”.
Reading the charge sheet numbered MDD/18c/2017 the prosecutor in the second count alleged that the accused persons “on the same date and same place robbed the deceased, dispossessed him of his Samsung X4, value unknown “and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 401 and punishable under Section 402 (1) of the criminal code cap 38vol.11 laws of Oyo state of Nigeria 2000”.
While in the third count, the Prosecutor accused the suspects of “did unlawfully caused the death of one Colonel Ekok Anthony Okey (Male, 52) by throwing him from a storey building onto the floor which led to his death, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 31f and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol.11 Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000”.
The court however did not take the suspects pleas as  Magistrate R.A.Ebeloku Mustapha said “the court will be waiting for the advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution for further hearing on the case”.
While adjourning the case till March 28 this year,Magistrate  Mustapha ordered that the accused persons be remanded in the Agodi Prison” till March 28 for mention, pending the advice from the DPP.
