Sickle Cell Centre Celebrates 10 Years Of Free Services

Founder of Sickle Cell Patient Health Promotion Centre (SCPHPC), Hajiya Badiya Magaji Inuwa, who has been in the vanguard of mobilizing pharmaceutical care and support for sickle cell patients, in Kaduna State and other parts of Northern Nigeria, with little or no support from local and international donors, at the weekend called on individuals and organizations to support her organization to expand it’s services to more Nigerians who are going through hardship of sickle cell. 
Her clinic according to her was only able to  admit 3,000 sickle cell patients in the last ten years and supports indigent sickle cell sufferers with free routine drugs, and counselling services out of over 6000 registered.
Hajiya Badiya, who disclosed that over 10,000 infants die of Sickle Cell annually in Nigeria, during 10th anniversary celebration of her organization and launch of a Magazine, added that, the disease is one of the most killer disease in the country, hence the need for more support and attention than that of HIV, Polio and other killer diseases.
Speaking at the event, Justice Lami Abubakar, who chaired the occasion, said, “it is indeed compelling to commend the centre for the extraordinary humanitarian service which they have been rendering over the course of it’s 1st decade of existence.
“In this remarkable 10th year of establishment, the centre has provided life support drugs for so many sickle cell patients thereby strengthening their hope of survival and living to realise their dreams in life.
“I am proud to be associated with overall project by charitable organization outfit whose existence and valuable activities has turned lives experience of the founder into hope given outreach for the under privilege sickle cell patients in Kaduna State.
“I congratulate the founder and all those who has worked assiduously through these years to what it has become today.
“I called on all well meaning Nigerians to contribute by donating money and drugs to support the centre as they continue to help sickle cell patients.”
