*Senator says he sponsored only 20

Kaduna State Students Association in Sudan (KASSAS) executives have cried out that a pledge made to them by the Senator representing Kaduna Central, Comrade Shehu Sani is pitching them against members of the association.
This was expressed by a statement by the association’s  Assistant Secretary General, Abdullahi Almustapha, made available to newsmen on Tuesday.
“The attention of Kaduna State Student’s Association in Sudan (KASSAS) has been drawn to some false stories going round within the KASSAS members and Nigerian Students in Sudan, that the Association (KASSAS) received a huge amount of money from Sen. Shehu Sani.
“Honestly, Sen. Shehu Sani made some promises in his Speech during a Conference meeting with Nigerian Students in Sudan, which was organised by KASSAS on 30th Nov, 2017. In some of the promises made, he said he will give the students union money as his own contribution,” the statement said.
The group appealed to the Senator to fulfil the pledge made, so that they can redeem their battered image from their colleagues.
The group frowned at the Senator’s supporters for falsely  announcing that he had given them money or scholarship.
“It’s a normal tradition of state associations in Sudan to welcome and honour any political office holder from their respective states.
“But some supporters of Sen. Shehu Sani took that as an advantage to go round with our photos, posting that we are brought to Sudan under Shehu Sani’s scholarship,” the statement added.
They said that what the Senator’s supporters didn’t know was that all the executive members on the same photos circulating, were in Sudan before the Comrade was elected Senator.
But when contacted, Senior Special Assistant to Senator Sani on Politics and Ideology, Suleiman Ahmed said the allegation was not true.
He explained that though it was true that Sen Shehu Sani sponsored 20 students to Sudan, it was when they got there they were visited  by the student’s association, which in his usual magnanimity, he promised to support with some token when sending allowances to the 20 he sponsored there.
“The Senator facilitated scholarship for the 20, paid for their visas and tickets and also supports them. He is also supporting their families back here in Nigeria,” he said.
