The Chairman Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari is to hold a town hall meeting and empowerment program for his Senatorial District on Tuesday, February 13 .
According to a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Sunday, the empowerment program will hold at the New National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Orientation Camp Iseyin with Governor Abiola Ajimobi, his wife, Chief Mrs Florence Ajimobi and the state deputy governor, Otunba Moses Adeyemo expected to grace the programme.
Senator Buhari in the statement hunted that the items to be distributed as well as the beneficiaries of 2018 empowerment program will be more than the previous edition and that he will at the event render stewardship account of his activities at the National Assembly to his constituents.
The Chairman Senate Committee on ICT and Cyber crimes stressed that the massive empowerment program ” is one of the ways through which the Senator representing Oyo North Senatorial District reaches out to his constituency in the last two years during which he facilitated several projects, moved motions and sponsored bills towards hasten development of his senatorial district.
It will be recalled that the bills sponsored by Senator Buhari included the bills for the Establishment of Federal University of Agriiculture, Oke Ogun and Federal Polythecnic Ogbomoso which has successfully passed second and first reading respectively.
Apart from payment of millions of Naira for WAEC fees of students in secondary school, the lawmaker has also facilitated several trainings in agriculture and skill acquisition for the youths in his senatorial district, built ICT centers, donated cash and other valuable materials to various group and individuals , communities and organizations to boost their activities for economic advantage.
His 2016 empowerment program was adjudged unprecedented in the history of western Nigeria and probably Nigeria at large considering the number of items distributed and beneficiaries.
