Security Checks: Niger Govt Goes Tough On Complacent Landlords/Hoteliers

Any landlord who hobnobs with, and accommodates criminal elements in his property and or hoteliers operating in the Niger State who offer their facilities to men of the underworld l, risk severe punitive measures, Niger State Government has said.
Hoteliers operating in all parts of the Niger State are to henceforth ensure that all guests who lodge in their facilities are well profiled and such data transmitted to relevant security agencies on daily basis as part of the new crime stop-gap measures to arrest growing crime waves in the state.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Danjuma Sallau told newsmen after the state security council meeting that the state government would go tough on any property owner whose facility was found to have been used to harbour criminal elements.
He said the state government was adopting a pragmatic approach in crime watch to nib in the bud all such possibilities where criminal elements could be busted.
The Commissioner tasked all law abiding citizens in the state to rise to the increasing upsurge in criminalities by reporting all suspicious persons.
He said the fight against crime must be every good citizen’s business. He said it was the duty of all citizens to promptly call the attention of relevant government’s agency whenever they see strange persons in their midst.
Sallau explained hoteliers must on daily basis forward the lists of the guests who lodge in their hotels.
He reiterated the state government’s resolve to ensure that the state is made safer for citizens and their properties.
The state government according to the Commissioner was doing everything possible to guarantee safety of all citizens. He said any landlord found to be compromising with criminals to perpetrate evil, would be dealt with accordingly.
He said the state government was working in tandem with security agencies in the state to rout out criminals unleashing mayhem in the state.
