Academic activities in public schools across Kaduna State have resumed after ten days strike action embarked upon by the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) following the sack  of over 22,000 teachers by the state government.
A visit to some of the schools within the metropolis by our correspondent revealed that academic activities have fully taken off with teachers seen performing their duties in their various classes.
The visit also revealed that teachers in those schools have been seen writing application letters of reinstatement as directed by their union leaders as part of the negotiation agreement with the state government.
Some of the teachers in an interview, whose schools and names are withheld, said the whole thing is confusing because they have not received any sack letters from the state government but are being asked to write application letters of reinstatement.
According to them, the sack letters were issued to only those teachers that scored below 60 in the competency tests and those that scored from 60 and above are yet to receive any letters but are all directed to write the application.
The teachers however appealed for more explanation from the union and state government to enable them have a better understanding.
Also, some of the pupils who spoke to New Nigerian expressed happiness for the calling off the strike by the NUT saying they will be able to meet up with their academic calendar.
It would be recalled that the Nigerian Union of Teachers, Kaduna State wing called off the strike action last Thursday 18th, January, 2018 after reaching an agreement with the state government.

It would also be recalled that after several trading of words by the Nigerian Union of Teachers and the Kaduna State Government over the sack of teachers who allegedly failed the  competency test, the state NUT two weeks ago embarked on strike action over the sack.
