Former Nigerian internationals led by Alhaji Waidi Akanni have been mandated and mobilised by the Lagos State Government to watch remaining games of Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup with football fans in special viewing centres provided by the state.
It a special initiative of Lagos State to add spice to Russia 2018 and Akanni who was former Lagos FA chairman is leading ex-stars like Wasiu Ipaye, Friday Ekpo, Tajudeen Disu, Friday Elahor, Monday Odiaka, Brenda Aleda, Mike Onyemachara, Michael Dominic, Mba Agbai Yisa Shofoluwe amongst others as “My Lagos my Football concept” was launched by the Akinwunmi Ambode administration.
Lagos State Sports Commission chairman, Dr Kweku Tandoh, Director General of the commission, Tunde Bank Anthony and Lagos FA boss, Seyi Akinwunmi who spoke Friday said the ex-internationals heading to eight special viewing points in Lagos would sustain interest in the world cup, even as Nigeria got eliminated from Russia 2018 in the group stage. They so applauded Governor Ambode for sustaining the football culture in Lagos through the latest initiative
