In keeping to his promise of rewarding athletes who do the country proud at the African Skating championship held late last year in Lome, Togo, President of Roller Sports Federation of Nigeria Comrade Joseph Eva on Saturday gave out various cash prizes to medalists at the event.
Eva, who  singlehandedly sponsored the athletes to Lome had promised them that he will dole out cash prizes to those who excel at the tournament.
Silver medalist, Samuel Igangan received N150,000 while double bronze medalist, Kelvin Chidindu got N200,000 for his efforts just as bronze medalists; Wale Ibrahim, Tunde Ishola and Abusadiq Abdulrashed got N100,00 while those who did not win medals were promised  N30,000  each.
Presenting the money to the skaters ,Eva explained that it was to fulfil a promise he made to the athletes last December as well as to encourage them to do more for the country.
“I decided to reward them in keeping to my promise if giving monetary reward to any of them that wins medal in Togo and am happy that they did the country proud in their first participation at the continental level”. he said.
.The president while appealing to corporate Nigeria to come to the help of the Federation promised to provide passports to all the skaters that will represent the country in this year’s continental championship slated for Egypt later in the year.
Speaking at the event President General of Nigeria Football Supporters Club Dr.Rafiu Ladipo commended him for his magnanimity saying that he needs the encouragement of both government and corporate organisations to take the sports to greater height.
“I’m highly impressed with what Comrade Eva has done. There are only few Nigerians who can do what he did. This is a man who have been using Hus resources to finance the sports without any help from anywhere.I’m appealing to government and corporate organisations to compliment Hus efforts as it will help fight unemployment and other social vices in the society”, he concluded.
