Reps Tasks Journalists On Objectivity, Urge Kaduna Assembly To Provide Conducive Environment

Journalists covering the Kaduna State House of Assembly have been enjoined to always be balanced and objective in their reportage.
The Deputy Chairman, House Committee on information in the House of Representatives, Barrister Gaza Jonathan made the call during the Kaduna State House of Assembly crew  learning tour  to the lower and upper houses of the National Assembly.
According to him, the legislative arm of government has never won popularity by contest, but through  partnering with the media.
The lawmaker who was represented by Mr Abdrazak Namdas, Chairman, House Committee on Information, urged the Kaduna Assembly to provide it’s media crew with a comfortable working environment to enable them carry  out their duties effectively.
Also speaking, the Chairman House Committee on Information and Home Affairs at the Kaduna Assembly, Deacon Nuhu Goro Shadalafiya  assured  of its commitment towards  improving the reporting skills of its media crew.

According to him, the aim of the tour was to learn, share experiences and build up skills in good reportage at the State Assembly
He also commended the faciltators of the tour,  Partnership to Engage, Reform and Learn  (PERL) and DFID for sponsoring the tour.
Umar Mohammed, Chairman House of Representatives  Press Corps said  the visit was the first of its kind during his tenure and it’s a very great and welcome idea.
According to him,  this kind of initiative would go a long way in addressing critical issues in terms of reporting and activities of the assembly.
He called  on journalists  who may need asistance at the national level to feel free to approach them should the need arise.
