Killings: Reject Cow Gifts From Herdsmen, Bishop Tells Delta Monarchs

The Bishop of Ughelli Diocese, Anglican Communion, Bishop Cyril Odutemu on Sunday called on traditional rulers in Delta State to reject cows presented to them as gifts by killer herdsmen.
The Cleric said, “If they come to you with cows, i beg you reject them. The Cows you collect from herdsmen is the reason for the problems we have in our lands.
“If you don’t collect cows from them, they will not have the chance to do what they’re doing now.
“Your people will feed you and if they refuse to feed you, your God will feed you.
Bishop Odutemu made the assertion at the thanksgiving/grand reception organized in honour of former Governor James Onanefe Ibori saying that the menace by killer Fulani herdsmen will continue if caution is not applied by the people.
Bishop Odutemu who lamented the over the menace of the killer Fulani herdsmen hailed Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa for saying, “Delta land is not available for colony.”
He appealed to Governor Okowa to stand by his words stressing,”It will not be too well if you fail. May God give you the grace to stand by your word. The church of Nigeria will also stand by you.”
