Rape: More Punitive Measures For The Perpetrators – NAWOJ

Following the prevailing cases of rape in the society, the Nigerian Association of Women Journalis, NAWOJ Kaduna State chapter has joined other concerned Nigeria in calling for more punitive measures against perpetrators.
NAWOJ stressed the need for the government to come up stiffer penalties and punishment for people who indulge in the crime against children and young girls saying that time has come for government at all level as well as well meaning Nigerians to join hands to rid the state of bad elements.
This was contained in statement jointly signed by the chairman and secretary of the association Juliet Oyoyo and Sahura Maidoki respectively stressing that things have become a source of worry to the association, especially the habit of defiling infants between 2 months to 2 years of age by the pervert which have often placed mothers under fear of leaving their girl child with males even relatives.
 
It lauded the recent declaration of war against rapists in the
state by the state governor, Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-rufai saying that NAWOJ would not relent in the fight against rape in order to
ensure a safer society for the young and the girl child.
The statement however, called on all parent especially
mothers, lawmakers, security agencies, traditional as well as
religious leaders to join in the fight in order to completely
eradicate rape in the state.
