Rainstorm: 300 temporary shelters required in Borno IDP – NEMA

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is working with the stakeholders towards ensuring the provision of over 300 temporary shelters in various camps in Borno State which were recently destroyed by windstorm.
The Zonal Coordinator of NEMA in the North-East Nigeria, Muhammed Kanar made the disclosure today at the monthly Humanitarian Stakeholders’ Coordination Meeting in Maiduguri Borno State.
Kanar also stated that efforts would be made towards the provision of 100 units of toilets for Internally Displaced People residing in the satellite camp in Bama Local Council of Borno State.
A statement by Abdulkadir Ibrahim, Information officer NEMA North East quoted Kanam as saying “The meeting was briefed by the shelter subsector on rebuilding of over 300 temporary shelters in various camps destroyed by windstorm. The meeting also discussed the efforts to provide 100 units of toilets for IDPs residing in the satellite camp in Bama LGA.”
The monthly meeting which is jointly organised by NEMA and Borno State Emergency Management Agency (BOSEMA) with supports from OXFAM, is held to discuss issues relating to humanitarian activities and camp management in satellite camps and liberated communities in the state.
Participants at the meeting included members of security agencies and other humanitarian bodies.
