The Emir of Birnin Gwari, Alhaji Jibrin Maigwari II has enjoined Christians and Muslims to promote those things that unitesas against those that divide, in order to ensure a peaceful coexistence and development in the country.
According to him, what unites Christians and Muslims is more than what divides them; hence, adherence to the teachings of the religions remains paramount to peace and improved development.
The traditional rulers, made the call when he received the team of a non Governmental Global Peace Foundation Kaduna, who paid him a courtesy visit, at his residence stressing the need for people to always have the fear of God in all they do.
“I have observed that most Muslims and Christians say things without sincerity and not from their hearts and they fail to understand that God, whom they should fear, is more interested in what is sincere in their hearts than just lip service” he added.
The Emir however assured his maximum support and cooperation of his Emirate to the NGO, and commended the efforts of Global Peace Foundation in promoting peaceful coexistence under its “One Family Under God Campaign”, which he noted will go a long way to reduce the level of mistrust amongst adherents of the
two major faiths.
Earlier in his speech, the Northern Coordinator, One Family Under God Campaign, Rev. John Joseph Hayab pointed out that the campaign which started in six piloting communities of Kaduna State, is now scaling up to additional six communities of which
Birnin Gwari is among.
According to Hayab, the purpose of the visit was to intimate the traditional ruler on the planned activities of the GPF in his community and to get the support of the Emirate, to enable them scale up the ‘One Family Under God Campaign’ in the community successfully”.
In a remark, the State Coordinator of the campaign, Shiekh Haliru Maraya explained that all human beings are members of one family in the eyes of God who is the creator of our fore fathers; Adam and Eve, as such religion is only a way of worship of which everyone has the right to worship God and live freely.
