Polio Immunization Exercise: Yola South Records High Compliance

Yola South Local Government Area, has recorded a very high level of compliance in the polio Immunization exercise which kicked off  on Saturday March 16,  across Adamawa State.

The Executive Secretary of Yola South Local Government Alhaji Abubakar Sahabo, who made the disclosure while speaking  to a team of Journalists Against Polio (JAP), maintained that the success so far recorded is amazing.

According to him, the council has target to reach over 130 children ages 0 – 5 during the exercise.

“With the level of compliance recorded so far, there is the tendency we may surpass our target” Sahabo stated.

According to him, traditional, religious and community leaders in the local government have given them 100% support, which he described as commendable.

Sahabo maintained that the traditional, religious and community leaders took time to enlighten their subjects and followers on the importance of polio vaccines.

“This gesture have help us in achieving a very high level of compliance in Yola South”.

The Executive Secretary pointed out that the LG has 146 house to house team that are working tirelessly round the clock to see that children ages 0 – 5 are vaccinated against Polio.

He also stated that there are fixed post personnel spread across the health center in the LG to administer the vaccine.

“We have spread out our personnel to ensure total coverage of the LG in this exercise”, he stated.

New Nigerian reports that when JAP team went round the local government they saw vaccination house to house team and those at the fixed post doing their work diligently.
