Operatives of the Nigerian Police in IMO State on Wednesday arrested 72 persons suspected to be members of a dreaded cult group operating in nearby Rivers State.
According to the police spokesman Mr Andrew Enwerenem, the cultists were conveying the remains of their ceased member from Rivers State to a community called Amauzari in Isiala Mbano local Government Area of IMO state before the police suspecting them acosted them and forced them to open the casket where the police then discovered the pistols and life catrages hidden beside the deceased body.
The police further revealed that the deceased person, a ,39 year old man by name Kingsley Egwim was being taken home for burial in his home town at Amuzari .
According to the spokesman upon the startling discovering and arrest the suspects were taken to the police headquarters with the casket bearing the deceased body for proper investigation .
He further said that in all ,two pistols were recovered from the suspects and that they will be charged to court after thorough investigation.
Meanwhile, the casket has since been released to the bereaved family for burial while the suspects were clamped in to detention for investigation.
It would recalled that recently, the state police command has been issuing warning against operation and practice of cultism in the state saying that any individual Vought will be prosecuted according to the law.
