Police Parade 2 Kidnappers, 5 Others In Lagos

Two suspected kidnappers and five others alleged of conspiracy and stealing of NITEL cables in Lagos were Tuesday paraded by Commissioner of Police Lagos Command, Edgal Imohimi.
 The suspected kidnappers, Identified as Igwe Sunday  aged 28 years and Chukwu- Emeka Bright Onne 23 years, according to the police commissioner were arrested over alleged kidnapping of one Mildred Mbajiorgu last week.
Apprehended by operatives of the Federal Special Anti- Robbery Squad (FSARS), Ikeja, Edgal disclosed that the suspects had kidnapped their victim at the front of Peace Estate, Majok area of Abijo Elemoro along Epe Expressway in AJAH on the 10th of January 2018 at about 10 pm.
Describing the suspects as members of a deadly notorious kidnapping syndicate, the police boss explained that they  blocked a Camry car in which their victim was travelling in, with their operational blue colour Volkswagen car marked KRD 845EC into which they dragged her and zoomed towards Epe area.
” Luck however ran against them when a good Samaritan gave the fleeing kidnappers a hot chase with his own vehicle and hit the Golf car from behind as such, the Golf car driver lost control resulting in a serous accident and all the occupants and the victims sustained various degree of injuries and were rushed to hospital treatment, while the two gang members were arrested and others escaped “, Edgal stated.
During a search on the car, he said a locally made cut to size pistol, used during the operation was recovered from them.
Edgal said that the suspects have confessed to be members of the deadly kidnapping gang that has been terrorising Ajah,  Lekki, Ikorodu. Sagamu and Elemoro area of the state.
The police boss hinted that one of the suspects Sunday Igwe also confessed that the gang had on 13th October. 2017 kidnapped a foreigner with a lady friend, kept him for three days before he was released after ransom in which he benefitted N250,000.00 was paid.
The other suspects identified as Mohammed Rabiu, Musiliu Iyanda, Musa Ibrahim,  Sherif USMAN and David Okpako, he said were intercepted at Fatai Atere way Mushin on 11th January 2018 while vandalising Nitel cable.
Edgal said the suspects were nabbed by a team of operatives from FSARS Ikejq dispatched to the scene.
He disclosed that 15 pieces of cable, a mercury villager space bus with registration number RSH 686 AJ containing two heavy duty battery, three jack chains and one unregistered Mack Truck.
