Police ‘ll get to the root of OYHA Member killing – Police Chief

Oyo state Commissioner of Police, Mr Leye Oyebade has vowed to get to the root of the killing of the Chairman, Oyo State House of Assembly’s Committee on Information, Public Relations and Security, Hon Gideon Aremu who was assassinated Friday night by unknown gunmen at the gate of his house in Alakia area of Ibadan.
The Police Commissioner stated this while addressing his field officers at the scene of murder during his visit to the Alakia residence of the late Honourable Aremu.
Mr Oyebade stressed that the Oyo State Police Command is at all times ready to provide adequate security for the people in and across the nooks and crannies of the state.
The Police Commissioner urged the people of the state “with useful information that could help in investigation to give it to the police”, saying, “such information will be treated with utmost confidentiality”.
It will be recalled that Governor Abiola Ajimobi on Saturday ordered the security agencies in Oyo State to arrest “any and every one connected with the assassination of the Chairman Oyo State House of Assembly’s Committee on Information, Public Relations and Security, Hon Gideon Aremu” who was shot dead Friday night by unknown gunmen.
The governor in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Mr Yomi Layinka vowed to get to the bottom of the circumstances surrounding the killing of the lawmaker and ensure “appropriate sanctions for both the plotters and executors of the suspect murder, no matter how highly placed”.
