Police Confirm Death Of Notorious Terrorist In Akwa Ibom

Akwa Ibom Police press briefing

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a notorious kidnapper and member of a criminal gang that has been terrorising people in Ukanafun and Etim Ekpo local government areas of the state.
Meanwhile, the fleeing inhabitants of these local government areas who have been taking refuge outside their homes have been urged to return home as their terrorist have fished out and killed.
The command said their terrorist known as Isaac alias ‘Stainless’ was gunned down during an exchange of gunfire between his gang of hoodlums and the police in the early hours of yesterday (Wednesday – April 18).
Stainless was said to be the successor to Akaninyene Jumbo, also a notorious criminal and gang leader who was also shot dead by the police in January.
The state commissioner for police, CP Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi who confirmed the killing of Stainless while addressing newsmen said that following the death of Jumbo, Stainless led other hoodlums on a revenge mission and unleashed terror on the local government areas killing, maiming, raping, kidnapping and issuing threats to the people of the area and burning houses indiscriminately.
According to him, disturbed by the ugly development, the security agencies in the state re-strategized and mounted massive operations against the criminal gang, an effort that led to the arrests of many of the hoodlums.
“The efforts of the command received a major boost on Wednesday 18 April, 2018 with the death of the current and the most brutal gang leader known as Stainless by his victims but whose real name is Isaac but known to the security community and close aides as Baggy Short after a serious exchange of gunfire.”
He said with the death of the gang leader an end has been put to the reign of terror of Iso Akpafid and his lieutenants in the two local government areas of the state explaining that the command has chosen to parade his corpse to “demystify his invisibility and re-assure the people of Etim Ekpo and Ukanafun local government areas of their safety to encourage those who have fled the area to return home.”
While thanking the Inspector General of Police and other security chiefs for approving the joint operations and the Akwa Ibom government for supporting the efforts of the command, he said there has been a marked improvement in the security situation across the state, noting that there would be no hiding place for criminals including cultists in the state as many of them have been put behind bars.
“They are mainly responsible for the heinous crimes in the state. We are aware some of them have moved their activities into the forest but even there, we would smoke them out.  Arrangements have been concluded with authorities of higher institutions and students’ unions to fish them out and restore the glory of the various institutions,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, the command has paraded 17 other suspected criminals and cult members arrested by the police in the last one month including a 36 year old man who confessed to killing a man for allegedly coming to attack him being a member of another cult group. He said he used the big knife known as matchet to attack him.
The command also announced that it has recovered three Ak47 rifles, three Pump Action guns, 3 single-barrel guns and 36 locally made pistols as well as 172 live ammunitions from members of the public.
