Six suspected cultists declared wanted over their involvement in the bloody clash that left four persons dead have been arrested by police operatives in Lagos.
The suspects, said to be members of the Eiye Confraternity, were alleged to have participated in the clash between rival cult groups which occurred on 14th April, 2019, at General Paint Ajah, where four Aiye members were killer.
While two suspects were arrested during the clash, others were said to have fled and gone into hiding.
Through unrelentless efforts and intelligence reports, our correspondent gathered that the suspects were arrested in different locations by operatives attached to the Area ” J” Command Elemoro.
The suspects were identified as Babatunde Wasiu , 30yrs, of No. 22 Lumo Street off Surulere ,Lagos, Bolaji Elijah, 25yrs of 44 Yewa rd, Pokah Imontun Epe, Joseph Timoth 32yrs of No 5 Okia Jano Street Eredo,Epe, Bolaji Olayiwola 22yrs of No 6 Okesuna Street,Obalende,Lagos, Saheed Lateef 22yrs of No 13 Baale Obodo Street off Okeranla Street , Langbasa , Ajah and Julius Augele 20yrs of No 13 Obodo Street, Okeranla, Langbasa, Ajah ,Lagos
It was reliably, gathered that the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti where they are undergoing further interrogation.
An impeccable police source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, informed that axes and Jack knives used during the clash were recovered from the suspects.
He hinted that the police have launched a manhunt on the suspects shortly after the incident until they were apprehended at their hideout on 26th April, 2019.
According to him, effort is being intensified to arrest other fleeing members of the groups.
Efforts to get the comment of the police public relations officer DSP Bala Elkana as at the time of filing the report proved abortive.
