Residents of Ijora-Badia, a suburb of Lagos in Apapa Iganmu Local Council Area of the state can now heave a sigh of relief as no fewer than 19 suspected arsonists have been apprehended by police operatives in the area.
The suspects were alleged to be members of a notorious gang that have been terrorising residents and disturbing the peace of the area.
Our correspondent gathered that the suspects were arrested by operatives attached to the Lagos State Taskforce during an operation that lasted for hours.
It was reliably learnt that the suspects were vandalising, burning some properties and disturbing the peace of the area where the operatives swooped on them at the weekend following credible information.
The Commissioner of Police Lagos Command Edgal Imohimi while parading the suspects warned that the command would not fold its arms and allow miscreants disturb the peace of any part of the state.
Edgal noted that the suspects and others at large had in recent time make residents of the area to live in fear, vowing that the command would not rest on its oars until criminals are wiped out of the state.
He identified the suspects to include
Onyeka Victor 24years, Fatai Suleiman 28years, Rotimi Olaniyan 21years, Adebowale Micheal 19year, Ismaila 21year, Sango Ajide 32years, Ahmed Qudri ‘m’ 23years, Egbe Abuchi 18years, Jame Philips 20years, Shoal Segun ‘m’ 20years, Abu Muhammed 18year and Ismaila Subaru 22years.
Others, according to the Police boss are Salmon Sodiq, 30year, Fatai Adisa 30years, Kazeem Oladele 34years, Sunday Edeth 24years, Qudus Adeyemo 18years, Abdul Malik Sanni 25years and Akeem Alabi 38years.
He immediately directed that all the suspects be arraigned in court following the conclusion of necessary screening.
It would be recalled that a total number of 18 suspected hoodlums were also arrested by police operatives in the same area in less than a month ago for similar offence.
Areas which include Abete, Gangare, Amusu, Obale, Opeloyeru and Adeleye, Zion in Orile Iganmu have not known peace lately , as residents are daily terrorised by hoodlums.
