A  coalition of Support groups for Simon Lalong have urged the lIndependent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to publish the number of collected Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), in the polling units slated for Saturday’s supplementary election to avoid speculation.
It lambasted an election domestic observe group, the Plateau Peace Movement International (PPMI), alleging that it was partial.
The coalition, made the call in a press conference, led by Peter Nde, flanked by other officials, on Tuesday in Jos.
The group said as the state prepares for the Saturday supplementary elections, they observed some elements of threats posed by the; “activities of a so-called group of political merchants desperate to turn the tide in favour of their paymasters, the PDP.”
“We also observed the attempt to create tension and over heat the polity in the build up to the rerun election as a result of the activities of a group of political thugs under the guise of Plateau Peace Movement International (PPMI), hiding under the use of uncollected PVCs and alluding that the defeated PDP flag bearer should have been declared the winner,” they said.
” The People of Plateau State should disregards the PDP, sponsored PPMI election observers report, they further called for thorough investigation of membership and activities of the PPMI, “for their blatant falsehood.”
The coalition also said the security agencies should have dealt with the Monday protesters, since the ban on public processing is still in place, adding that; “any real observer group worth its salt is supposed to be impartial.”
“We appeal to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to remain steadfast, publish the number of PVCs collected in each of the 41 polling units for the Saturday elections and not succumb to the antics of any group or the main opposition party in the State,” the coalition urged.
