The ongoing governorship tribunal in Plateau State has taken a very frightening dimensions as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised alarm over threat to live of their witnesses list to testify at the ongoing governorship tribunal sitting in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

This is because the witnesses  for PDP over the conduct of 2019 governorship election in the state practically took to their heels because of constant phone calls, harassment and threats to their lives by persons believed to be All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters.

The leading counsel to Senator Jeremiah Useni the governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last general election, Chief Mike Ozekhomen raised the alarm during the tribunal sitting on Thursday 11th July, 2019 during the continuation of the tribunal hearing.

Chief Ozekhomen on resumption of the tribunal submitted an additional document bringing the documents so far tendered by PDP before the tribunal to over two hundred.

Ozekhomen however informed the tribunal that the case is slated for continuation for the presentation of witnesses, “but my Lord l want to be recorded by this honorable tribunal that information available to me revealed that the lives of my witnesses are under threat by yet to be identified persons who promise to annihilate their lives and that of their extended family if they dare testify against Governor Bako Lalong led All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ozekhome further added that the witnesses who come from different local government of Plateau State have been asked not to return to their various places of abode if they dare go ahead and testify against APC and Governor Lalong.

In their separate objections, the 1st 2nd and 3rd respondents debunked the claims of Ozekhome on the grounds that it is another avenue to raise motion to adjourn the tribunal sitting and urged the tribunal to assert it’s authority to avoid wasting the precious time of the tribunal which has limited time.

PDP who listed seven witnesses to testify, only succeeded in taken five as the two other witnesses were said to have run away as a result of threats to their lives and their family.
