Strong contender from Plateau State  representing Jos North-Bassa  Federal Constituency‎, Yusuf Umar Dauda has strongly advocated for the participation  of youths in the nation’s political landscape, saying that “tomorrow is now here“.
The politician who contested for the seat four times without success, ‎said there is paramount need for the youth in every society to take over their destiny and ensure meaningful participation in governance.
“My fellow youth never send old people to the National Assembly to represent you, if not you stand to get  zero results.  Youths are ready to take over for better future.  Let’s join hands and build for a better tomorrow.“.
According to him, youth are the most marginalised segment of the society who are always being used by some politicians as either political thugs or spoilers.
Speaking in an interview in Jos‎, Yusuf opined that such political situation needs to be changed in 2019, “ if the youth who are very often regarded as the backbone of our society are to relevant in our society.“.
He said the youth today are being given  bad names when in actuality,“ it is only few are involved in social disruption and negative vices“.
The lawmaker to be said, “ most youths are sincere people who need motivation to showcase their potential in the field of politics.
He strongly advised the various youth organisations in the country to systematically work towards taking over power from the elders whom he said are naturally weak and cannot contribute meaningfully to our political system.
According to him, the ruling government in the country has tried hard in giving the youth the needed opportunity to display their talents and ability more then ever before in the history of this nation.
He called for the electorate in the constituency to use their votes wisely  to prevent the repeat of the past political blunder where a politician from another local government was elected to represent the constituency.
