The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has warned that it will take punitive measures against  petroleum filling stations in Zamfara State which hoards or sells above the pump price of N145 per litre.
This warning was given by the Operations Controller in charge of Gusau DPR field office, Malam Ango Haruna while inspecting filling stations in Gusau to ascertain the level of compliance in the state.
Haruna lamented that despite the daily surveillance operations on filling stations some of the filling station owners were not complying with the federal government directives as regard to petroleum supply and marketing.
The controller warned filling stations owners in the state to always comply with the rules and regulation of the department or be sanctioned.
“Some filling stations were caught selling above official pump price of N145 per litre, some were hoarding while some were diverting the commodity though in a situation like this that we are in now, we won’t seal erring filling station but what we do is make sure that we force it to revert to the official pump price of N145 per litre”, he said.
Haruna added that even though there is  directives from the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources that  they should not seal any filling stations at this critical time of fuel scarcity but department have sanctioned more than 8 filling stations in Zamfara State for various offences in the last two months.
The Controller urged members of the public to shun panic buying and patronage of  petroleum black marketers.
