Pensioners Union Lauds Ayade Over Payment Of Gratuities

The chairman of the Cross River State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Comrade Ntamu Adie Emmanuel, has commended governor Ben Ayade for the commencement of payment of gratuities to pensioners in the state.
It would be recalled the New Nigerian Online had reported that “there were lots of excitement as pensioners of 2013 set got their cheques from the Accountant General Office in Calabar following the directives of the governor.
Emmanuel, made the commendation while speaking on a private radio station “Hit FM” on the recent development as it affects the welfare of its members.
Said he, “when we got the news I and my members were truly happy with the development”.
While indicating that life had been difficult with pensioners since the stoppage of payment of gratuities five years ago, he expressed gratitude to governor Ayade having accepted to pay.
“My happiness is that the (payment) has started. To stay for five years is not a joke and I still stand by the fact that the current governor is not to blame for these lapses, he added “.
He went further to state “because it has been long gratuity was paid in the state, we don’t understand the modalities for payment”.
In his words,  Comrade Emmanuel said the ongoing gratuities payment was God’s answer to their prayers.
