The Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship aspirant in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore on Sunday congratulated Dr Kayode Fayemi on his election as the Ekiti State governor elect.
Senator Omisore while speaking on the Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti state said the defeat of Governor Ayodele Fayose and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Prof Kolapo Olusola was the outcome of the reigning ” treachery and impunity” in the PDP.
The former deputy governor of Osun state while commending the people of Ekiti state especially the electorate for the peaceful conduct of the Saturday governorship election, declared that the result of the election was the supremacy of the will of Ekiti people, “the people’s will is ultimate in political choices”,
“What we saw in Ekiti on Saturday is a demonstration of the supremacy of people’s will against the decision of an individual to impose a leader on them. It also further solidified people’s rejection of the PDP in leadership position in Nigeria, since every reasonable Nigerian has by now, known that the party is longer a way to go as far as political offices is concerned in Nigeria,” he said.
The SDP governorship aspirant described the Ekiti state governor elect as a “gentleman who is not new to the office he has been voted again to occupy,” implored him not to let his people down.
“I am not a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC), but only sentimentally attached to Dr Kayode Fayemi because of the treachery and impunity in the PDP. And more so, besides his party’s affiliation, he has proven himself as someone who can be entrusted with power. So, I wish him all the best, in his new office, believing that he will live up to expectations,”
