Members and supporters of Governor Olusegun Mimiko-led faction of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have destroyed and defaced billboards of Akeredolu Campaign organization (ASO) carrying the picture of APC candidate in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, upon the announcement of the court verdict granting Eyitayo Jegede the right to appeal the judgement that declared Jimoh Ibrahim as the rightful candidate of PDP in the November 26, 2016 governorship election in the state.
Led by Governor Mimiko, the PDP members who took to the streets to celebrate the court verdict did not only deface posters and billboards of APC candidate, Barrister Rotimi Akeredolu but uprooted and hacked all billboards of ASO in sight.
This was done without the governor restraining them due to the soaring popularity of the APC candidate among the people of the state.
Mimiko is intimidated by the mammoth crowd and the high celebration with which Akeredolu Support Organization is being welcomed into all the towns and cities he had visited since our flagged off campaign for APC candidate Barrister Akeredolu in the forthcoming governorship election.
“Governor Mimiko had attempted to prevent the display of our organization posters and campaign messages in public as he unleashed the state signage agency to stop us but for the fact that we had paid all the required fees to the agency.
“We are appealing to our members and supporters not to retaliate with such barbaric acts.
We have it in a good authority that PDP is planning to destroy its own posters and billboards to make it appear that such was done by Akeredolu Support organization and the APC because of the court verdict” an APC chieftain said.
