PDP Chieftain, 4 Others In Police Net Over Alleged Pipeline Vandalization

Five suspects have been arrested by the police in Lagos over the recent fire outbreak as a result of pipeline Vandalization in Abuleegba, amongst them is a People Democratic Party (PDP) House of Assembly aspirant Hon.(Amb) Adedipe Dauda Ewenla.
Aside his arrest,  Ewenla who is contesting under Ifako Ijaye Constituency, had his Highlander campaign vehicle, branded in his name with photograph also been impounded.
Other suspects are identified as Abdulazeez Agbola a.k.a Biggy 29 years, Akin Ayansola a.k.a Babalati 44 years, Kazeem a.k.a Aladija 50 years and Saheed Isiola a.k.a Obama 36 years.
All the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation at State Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) Unit, while the vehicle is parked at the  Police command”s headquarters Ikeja.
While confirming the arrest Tuesday during a press conference, the Commissioner of Police Edgal Imohimi said the suspects were arrested by operatives of the State Anti-Robbery Squad following discreet investigation.
He disclosed that the gang has been in the business of stealing petroleum product for many years until they met their waterloo on 18/12/2018.
After the inferno in which over 100 houses and 77 vehicles were burnt, Edgal said operatives of the State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja, were detailed to investigate the incident and ensure the arrest of those behind the crime.
The police boss disclosed that  one  of the suspects Rasak Oyakunle a.k.a Akeregun was first apprehended upon the pieces of evidence for analysis picked up at the scene.
Edgal said the suspect confessed committing the crime, adding that he owns an electric generator repairing workshop situated right on the spot where the ruptured pipeline was laid.
His words, ” On the 18th December 2018, at about 0200hrs there was a fire outbreak at Isopako Awori, Abulegba area of Lagos.
The fire emanated from NNPC Pipeline that was deliberately ruptured by vandals in their bid to siphon Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from the broken pipe. The consequence was a huge ball of fire that consumed about 100 houses and 77 vehicles worth several millions of Naira.
Based on the development, operatives of the State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja, were detailed to investigate the incident and ensure the arrest of those behind the crime.
The operatives mobilized to the scene, picked up some pieces of evidence for analysis which led to the arrest of one Rasak Oyakunle at a.k.a Akeregun.
During interrogation, he confessed committing the crime.  He further revealed that he owns an electric generator repairing workshop situated right on the spot where the ruptured pipeline was laid.
 He said that the location of the workshop on the petroleum pipeline was to enable them siphon fuel undetected. His partners in the business currently in our custody are:
1. Abdulazeez Agbola a.k.a Biggy 29 years
2. Akin Ayansola a.k.a Babalati 44 years
3. Kazeem a.k.a Aladija 50 years
4. Saheed Isiola a.k.a Obama 36 years
Also arrested was one Adedipe Dauda Ewenla, 40 years who was on police wanted list as a result of the incident.
