The Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) has said that there is no cause for worry over ongoing probe of the forum by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Following allegations that the NGF as a body had made deductions from the payment and warehouse the money in its account, while refusing to pay some consultants, the EFCC recently instituted a probe into the matter.
But Chairman of the NGF, Abdulaziz Yari said on Tuesday that the allegations against the body were baseless, adding that there were no issues at all with the refunds.
“There is no issue with the refund, the issue is with consultancy which I think the minister of finance made clear that the consultancy which we decided to domicile in the NGF account, we are to work together on who to be paid or who not to be paid.
“Some wrote a petition that they have not been paid and mind you we have not even started paying fully because we have to ascertain who worked for who,” he explained.
Yari who is also Governor of Zamfara State stated that the Paris Club Refund had helped the states tremendously to meet their financial obligations especially in payment of arrears of salaries and pensions.
“As I am talking to you we have a lot of litigations, someone said he worked for so and so years for this state and that state.
“We are taking a decision that I will not make any comment on the isssue  yet. But let me tell you the truth, the London Paris club refund has helped this economy, those in the state knows about it, we were able to pay salaries during the Christmas and New Year and we were able to do so many things.”
