Following the strike, teachers in primary schools across the state completely stayed away from their schools thereby making pupils that arrived the schools early enough were asked to go back home.
Oyo State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Comrade Samson Adedoyin while speaking said the strike became necessary in view of the delay in payment of salaries of public primary school teachers as well as the failure of the state government to meet other requests of the striking teachers.
