Oyo Internal Revenue Board Seals NBC Plant, Hotels, Filling Stations Over Tax Default

In  continuation of its tax enforcement drive, the Oyo State Board of Internal Revenue on Thursday sealed off the  Asejire Plant of the Nigeria Bottling Company (NBC)   for allegedly  failing  to comply with tax laws in the state.

Also, about  ten hotels, petrol stations including World Oil, Iwo road, Forte Oil, Yidi, Agodi, Dove Filling  Station, Oke Ado, Forte Oil, Oke Ado, and popular Mobil Station,  Ring road Ibadan were sealed off by the board in connection with the same offence.

The sealing off of the Asejire NBC plant by the revenue board halted both human and vehicular movement into and outside the plant as the enforcement team arrived the plant as early as 8am.

On arrival, the Board of Internal Revenue team was prevented from gaining entrance into the plant by the security men on duty resulting in hot argument between the government officials, the security men and some NBC senior officials.

However at the end of the hot argument, the Oyo State  Board of Internal Revenue team enforcement team sealed off the two main entrances into the plant.

Speaking on the exercise, the Chairman, Oyo State  Board of Internal Revenue, Mr Bicci Alli, said  all the sealed companies were  earlier informed officially by the board of their outstanding debts  to the government as well as duly  reminded  of their inability to fulfil their payment within the regulated time.

According to Mr Bicci. the official communications were done through  letters  from the office of the Director, Trade, Ministry of Trade, K.W. Mustapha, adding that only those that failed to comply as at close of work, Wednesday night were sealed up.
