Oyo State Government has warned against the politicization of the last week death of 3 secondary schools  principals and two others in an auto crash along Oyo-Ogbomoso road.

The government gave the warning in a statement issued by the state Commissioner for Education, Professor Adeniyi Olowofela on the death of the 3 Principals and the two others made available to newsmen in Ibadan.

In the statement, the government also announced that it is ready to offset the medical bills for the treatment of those  injured in the accident and that it has suspended the ongoing capacity building workshop earlier slated for members of the State School Governing Boards (SGB) as a mark of honour for the deceaseds

“This is not the time to whip up unnecessary sentiments, which will not help the situation on ground. Accidents are natural phenomena that occur even in homes and even within the township. Oyo State Government is sensitive to the welfare and wellbeing of its workers and the citizens in general. Hence, the workshop was spread across five centres in line with the zonal standing of the state” he said.

Professor Olowofela pointed out that rather than playing politics with the death of the 5 people, there was the need   for the peoole of the state to be sober and show  sympathy with the deceased families and the education community in the state.

“These heroes and heroine died in the line of duty and therefore, should be allowed to rest in peace. On behalf of the governor and the government of Oyo State, we had immediately visited the families of the deceased as well as those injured and recuperating at the hospital. We use this opportunity to call on the good people of Oyo State to join us in praying for the repose of the soul of the deceased and to stand by the bereaved families at this difficult period. May their souls rest in peace”.

It will be recalled that three Secondary School Principals, an Account Clerk and a driver died last  Wednesday on Ogbomoso-Oyo road while returning from a workshop at Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo.
