Over A Dozen Killed In Jos, Govt Calls For Calm



No fewer then 13 persons were on Friday killed by yet to be identified persons along the road to the Rukuba Military Barracks, Jos.

Among those killed were nine members of a family and one said to have been shot by soldiers.

The spokesman of state Police command, DSP Typev Terma confirmed the incident

The gunmen were said to have invaded the Jos community called Rukuba road, in Central Nigeria’s Plateau State at about 8pm, local time, shooting at random.

It was however reported that the gunmen carried out their operation unhindered before the arrival of security

Reacting, the  Plateau State Government said that its attention has been drawn to an attack along Rukuba Road in the early hours of Friday morning.

Plateau state commissioner of Information and communication Yakubu Datti in a press release in Jos expressed Governor Lalong’s condolences to the families of the bereaved and entire community where the incident took place.    

Lalong said security agencies have been mobilized and are on red alert to track down the perpetrators.  

He assured that security agencies are on top of the situation and advice citizens to go about their lawful businesses without any fear of molestation or intimidation.

 The statement by the information commissioner advises citizens to shun fake news,rumour mongering & provide relevant information to security agencies to ensure a secured and peaceful state.
