The pioneer National Chairman of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dr. Olu Agunloye has raised the hope and the aspiration of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Ondo state as over two thousand PDP and APC members signified their intention to dump their parties in Ise Arale, Arale Local Government Area of the state.
The decampees, who were mostly grassroots politicians including six Baales (local chief) from the ten-wards of the local government, hinged their decision on the need to join and support Dr. Olu Agunloye, who is a governorship aspirant in the Social Democratic party, (SDP).
They disclosed that they are tired of their former leaders complacency in the PDP and APC, and it has forced them to massively resolve to seek the alternative platform in the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
According to them, the leaders of their former parties in Ode- Irele had neglected their plight with the level of poverty among their people and decried the government level of abandonment in the community.
“Many of us sold our goods and farm produce particularly to support this government of PDP but at the end of the day, it was neglect, backstabbing and victimization while they also leveled us with heavy taxes and unfavorable policy.
“As at today, there are meaningful developmental projects in Ode Irele and our people have been left in their own fate particularly over the total electricity blackout going to two years in the community and the Southern part of the state”.
The decampees expressed optimism that Dr. Agunloye would be given the SDP ticket as its governorship flag bearer ahead of the November 26th, 2016 guber poll in the state and vowed to continually rally support for his candidature.
“Based on our personal conviction we have no doubt that Dr. Olu Agunloye has better things to offer for the people of this state in the Social Democratic Party (SDP) when compared to aspirants in other parties”, they said.
Welcoming the decampees, the National Chairman of SDP, Chief Olu Falae, said the image of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has started soaring higher in the state since the official defection of Dr. OluAgunloye with thousands of supporters to the party.
Falae, who was represented by the party’s Senatorial Chairman (South), Lekan Adeodu, said the party was keenly ready to contest and win with a landslide in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
Earlier, Agunloye, said with the defection of the former PDP and APC members to the party, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) remained unbeatable for the race to the Alagbaka government seat and expressed hope of being the next governor of the state.
He advised the new members to get prepare for a neighbor-to-neighbor campaign in order to get massive support for the party ahead of the governorship election.
