Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has said that he has long forgiven and accepted the apologies of the Plateau State governor, Simon Lalong, over the statement he made that he had earlier cautioned him against the implementation of the Anti open grazing law.

The governor who made his mind known during a courtesy visit by a delegation from Plateau led by the Plateau State commissioner for Lands and Survey, Festus Fwanter, also apologised to the Nasarawa State government for the comments he made against the governor of Nasarawa State Tanko Al- Makura.
“I want to apologise to the governor of Nasarawa State for the comment I made against him. The situation on ground as at that time pushed me to say what I said. I never meant to hurt him. I needed to have contacted him before I could have raised such alarm, Orton said.

The governor, however, said Benue, Nasarawa and Plateau States have been bounded together by abject poverty underdevelopment and insecurity.
“We have been doing things together and relating well. Therefore, I sincerely apologise and appealed to him to forgive and equally join hands with me so that we can bring an end to this menace”.
Responding, leader of the delegation, comprising Plateau State Elders Forum, Festus Fwanter, described what happened in Guma, Logo and other parts of the state as being similar to what happened in Bassa, Jos North and South local government areas of Plateau State.

He lamented that, within this period both States have lost over 7, 000 people mostly children and women.
“Benue and Plateau together must put aside their differences and forged ahead to find a lasting solution to this wanton killings and destruction of properties.” Fwanter, however, disclosed that the delegation were in the state to commiserate with the governor, government and people of Benue State on the gruesome murder of over 73 people and donated N2.5 million as a token for the IDPs.
