Ooni unveils N60M “Olofin Adimula Mass Transit” buses for Ife

The  Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has inaugurated N60million “Olofin Adimula Mass Transit Scheme” to force down transport fares in Ile Ife and its environs.
Unveiling the air-conditioned 30-seater buses on Thursday at his Ile-Oodua Palace in Ile-Ife, Oba Ogunwusi said he is committed to the welfare of the people of the ancient city and would not disappoint them, but invest maximally for the development of Ifeland.
The Ooni declared that the air-conditioned 30-seater buses were an initiative in fulfillment of his developmental agenda for ameliorating the suffering of his people both within and outside Ife Kingdom and that the buses would be managed by the Olofin Microfinance Bank Limited.
Describing the scheme as a unique and important, capable of promoting cultural tourism of Ile-Ife, Oba Ogunwusi pointed out that the buses would reduce travelling challenges faced by commuters in and across Ifeland.
Speaking further, the Ooni disclosed that he has dialogued with other large and small scale industries to partner with him in empowering his people, adding that both the old and young would benefit immensely from his reign.
Ooni Ogunwusi while emphasizing that Ile-Ife “is blessed with natural and human resources including Obafemi Awolowo University and teaching hospital which neighbouring towns are benefiting from” said he has just started the reformation of the ancient city and that over 20,000 widows would be empowered, while numerous youths would be gainfully empowered.
While urging Nigerians to patronise made in Nigeria products so as to boost the economy of the country, he commended the Olofin Microfinance Bank for collaborating with him to bring down fares in Ifeland.
The Ooni however assured the NURTW and other transport unions that his reign will not inflict pains on them, but he is subsidizing the mass transit sector to reduce fares.
Managing Director, Olofin Micro Finance Bank, Mr Toyin Olufolahan, lauded Ooni Ogunwusi for collaborating with the bank for promoting cultural tourism of Ife adding that the process would generate thousands of jobs as well as ensuring a sustainable and robust mass transit programme.
According to Mr Olufolahan, the buses manufactured by the Leyland Motor Company, Lagos are to Lagos, Ibadan, Benin, Port- Hacourt, Onitsha and Abuja.
