Only synergy among security agencies can reduce child labour ~ILO Official

An official of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), Dr. Agatha Kolawole on has said synergy among security agencies remains the solution to child labour.
Dr Kolawole stated this in Ibadan while speaking at a day sensitization workshop for security agents on ways of eradicating child labour in the society.
The ILO Officer maintained that there is the urgent need for security agents to be more united in identifying abused children and tackling child labour.
Dr Kolawole stressed that at ILO, the interest of child was paramount, hence the need for proactiveness as well as collective measures by security agents to protect them against child labour and other forms of exploitation.
She however observed that interference from members of the public has always being the major challenge confronting efforts to effectively tackle the menace child labour constitutes.
In his remark, Controller of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Chairman of Oyo State Steering Committee on Child Labour, Mr. Niyi Ayodele, declared that in the interest of the general public, the time has come for a lasting solution to the menace of child labour in the society, saying, child labour should no longer be handled with levity but with the much needed seriousness.
