The Anglican Bishop of Maiduguri Diocese, Rt Reverend Emmanuel Morris has commended officers and men of the 7 Division Nigerian Army for the active roles and services rendered by the Division in combating Boko Haram terrorists, adding that only God can reward them enough for the sacrifices.
He made the commendation during his visit to the. Headquarters of 7 Division of the Nigerian army in Maiduguri cantonment Borno State saying that God used military to salvage the North East from Boko Haram invasion and made it possible for the citizens to go about their lawful duties.
“We are not ignorant of your sacrifices to the nation and that is what necessitated this visit to show appreciation. You are peace makers and peace is a concept that has to do with life.
“We as religious leaders will continue to offer prayers for divine protection over you and your house hold,” he said.
Earlier, the acting General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 division, Brigadier General Ibrahim Manu Yusuf in his response commended the Bishop for his visit which he said was a spiritual upliftment to the division and the entire troops of Operation Dole.
He said that religious harmony was key to sustainable peace in a secular society like Nigeria and called for a better understanding and tolerance among religious leaders in the country.
The GOC also used the opportunity of the visit to solicit for support of the religious leaders in the ongoing operation to flush out Boko Haram in the region by giving relevant information that will aid the troops in their operations.
