The Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State has called on the Inspector General of Police, Idris Ibrahim to personally take over investigation into the killing of a former chairman of Okitipupa local government area of the state, Niyi Pirisola by yet-to-be identified gunmen last Friday.
Pirisola was attacked and killed in cold blood by some unknown assailants who reportedly stormed his residence in Okitipupa town at about 3:00 am on Friday.
In a statement issued in Akure, the state capital and signed by the Director of Media & Publicity of PDP in the state, Yemi Akintomide, the party frowned at the wicked and inhuman act of killing the politician who many described as humane, gentle and down to earth.
The statement reads, “We urge the Inspector General of Police to personally swing into action by commencing full investigation into this killing and ensure the perpetrators are brought to book within the shortest of time before our crying eyes were dried up, while the law take a full course on the sad incident”.
Akintomide stated that “PDP as political party, decry and condemn in its totality, this kind of politics with bitterness where our brilliants and versatile hands will be cut down in their prime, when the state and Nigeria need them the most.
“The party prayed for the family left behind by the departed soul to seek solace in God, for continue guidance, protection and better living conditions in the absence of their breadwinner”
Akintomide also extended the warm greetings and condolence of the candidate of the party, Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim (CFR) to the immediate family of late Pirisola, his political associates, business partners, the people of Ikale land and the entire state.
PDP flag bearer, Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim, according to Akintomide, is currently in mourning mood, appealed for fellow party people to embrace peace before, during and after the governorship poll, as no development can take place in an atmosphere of violence and rancour.”
Ibrahim, who hails from same Okitipupa council area as the deceased, prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed, and for God to give the family, the people of Ikale land, the party political family and the entire state the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
