Ogun Customs Intercepts 2018 Model Of Range Rover, Other Items Worth N205.2m

The Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun State Command has within two weeks seized 1,778  bags of foreign rice, 236 kegs of vegetable oils, five sacks of second hand shoes and 62 used tyres worth N205,219,159,153,00.

The command has also within the period seized a brand new Range Rover (velar) 2018 model with Duty Paid Value of (N51,285,154) fifty one million, two hundred and eighty five thousand and one fifty four Naira.

The Controller Ogun Area Command, Comptroller, Sanni Madugu disclosed this to news men in Abeokuta during his press briefing.

According to him “The seizure of the month” which is the most spectacular among the seizures was the brand new Range Rover (velar) 2018 model adding that those who could afford to pay for such a vehicle could as well pay the duty but deliberately failed to do so.
Madugu also urged parents to discourage their wards that indulge in smuggling to stop as customs is more prepared to assist and cooperate with them when involve in any legitimate business.
He therefore, appealed to media, traditional rulers, and eminent personalities to cooperate with customs to expose the grave danger of smuggling  saying, it causes  economic hazard to the nation.

“Despite the aforementioned event and given the tottering nature of the operational environment, we will not relent, we will continue to stand firm and resolute in discharging the statutory responsibilities bestowed upon us as a Service with dedication, selflessness and uncompromising commitment.” Comptroller Madugu asserted.
