Ogun Customs Generates N7.5bn

The Ogun State Command of Nigeria Customs services  on Thursday declared that it has generated the sum of seven billion, five hundred and seventy six million, four hundred and twenty six thousand, nine hundred and ninety nine Naira and thirteen kobo (7,576,426,999.13) within the period of sixteen months.

Disclosing this at Idiroko, the out going Controller of the command, Comptroller Sanni Madugu who also introduced the newly posted Controller Deputy Comptroller Agbara M to the journalists, said the command generated 6,162,559.13kobo within January 2017 to December same year.

According to Madugu, the command reinvigorated her efforts not only to sustain the tempo achieved in 2017 but added new strategies which paved ways for more improvement hence, the additional successes recorded from January 2018 to date.

He said within January and April 2018, the command generated #1,413,867,209.00 while a total of 110 seizures with duty paid value of #731,009,781,00 was made in the area of anti-smuggling.

Madugu gave seized items to include, 118 vehicles (both Tokunbo and means of conveyance), 16 motorcycles, 5,512 bags of foreign rice (50 kg each), 78 bales/sacks of secondhand clothing/shoes/bags, 907 kegs of vegetable oil, 9 drums and 32kegs (25litres each) of diesel, 5 drum of kerosene, 406 kegs of PMS (petrol).

Others according to him includes 63 compressed book packs, 93 compressed coconut packs and quarter sack of cannabis sativa (popularly known as Indian Hemp) among others items.

Meanwhile, the new Controller of the command, Comptroller Agbara M urged Journalists to extend the kind of mutual support given to his predecessor to him. promised to synergize with all stakeholders in order to curtail smuggling.
