Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria has expelled ,60 students for their involvement in examination irregularities in the 2017/2018 academic session.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Mohammed Kabir Abdullahi disclosed this at the 2018/2019 students matriculation ceremony held at the Polytechnic Square.
He warned students against involving themselves in examination malpractices and use of fake results to gain admission as the Polytechnic embarks on verifying students results.
According to the Rector in the last academic session 35 students were expelled for presenting fake/ forged results, while others await the outcome of the verification.
He said in their efforts to sensitized the system,the Polytechnic will not relent to deal with any students found wanting in accordance with the institution extant laws.
While assuring the students of providing an enabling, conducive and secured environment for teaching and learning, despite the challenges, the management will leave no stone unturned in making the Polytechnic a comfortable and successful institution.
“The laws and conditions governing your stay are expressly contained in the students handbook which will be available to you in due course”.
An anti corruption and transparency unit was established to receive and deal with all complaints from staff and students on academic frauds, extortions, intimidation and harassment.
In 2018/2019 academic session a total of 23,134 applications were received out of the number 15,114 applications we’re concerned and offered admission, while 5,813 were registered as at the closure of the registration on Wednesday 24th April, 2019.
The Rector acknowledged the support Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic is enjoying from Government of Kaduna State under the leadership of Mal. Nasiru Ahmed el-Rufai who is committed to upgrading the standard of the Polytechnic.
Also, he acknowledged the support given by TETFUND, NCC. NITDA towards the development of ICT in the institution.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the occasion and former Rector of the Polytechnic, Alh.Adamu Aliyu Shika advised the newly admitted students to abide by the rules and regulations of the Polytechnic while in the school.
Aliyu Shika also advised the students to use the advantages of getting the admission to put in their best academically and other ways.
